Nouveau boîtier US en carbone moulé

Presentation

Our new Glide SW is the combination of our two bestsellers: on the one hand, there is the shape of the Glide V2 and on the other there are the measurements of the Comet SW.

The shape of the Glide has made its reputation thanks to its excellent glide and its ultra-efficient take off. By keeping this shape and adapting it to the measurements of the Comet SW, we managed to optimize the glide in a short board.

This is nothing new, the shorter your board, the more maneuverability, responsiveness and pumping efficiency increase. Where short boards can be scary is that they are often sinkers (i.e. sinking boards) with a difficult take-off, not very slippery and not very stable, reserved for advanced level riders. This is not the case with our Glide SW, which offers, thanks to its generous width and volume, a super efficient take-off in a compact shape, while remaining accessible.

SW as "Short and Wide" in English, or "Court et Large". Perfect compromise between width and length, the Glide SW are both accessible and efficient, but above all versatile! They will allow you to carve without limits in the waves, to land your best freestyle tricks, but also to freeride quietly in the light.

The sensations will be there with the Glide SW, thanks to its excellent rigidity allowed by its full carbon construction in vacuum infusion, a technique that comes to us from the aerospace industry. This extreme rigidity allows a maximum link between the rider and his foil and the supports are precise. The board is responsive, maneuverable, and allows powerful jump calls while facilitating pumping.

With the Glide SW, no more infiltrations! The board is durable thanks to its hydrophobic foam core and carbon construction. These are materials that will withstand the vagaries of a board's life and will be perfectly repairable. Your Glide SW will accompany you on all your wingfoil adventures, but also over time!

At Takoon, we offer unique customization in the series board industry: custom colors and the addition of your name, or a message of your choice, handwritten on your board! This personalization is produced on demand for an additional €70, for delivery between 2 and 3 weeks from the day of the order.

The Glide SW is "made in Europe", and we are proud to produce all our rigid boards in Portugal, in Peniche. Very close to our suppliers, all our raw materials, from carbon to pad, are European. There is bound to be an exception that proves the rule: boxes from the Future brand that bring a Californian touch to our board.

Our local production, close to our engineers and our shaper, allows us to be extremely efficient in R&D . This allows us to very quickly design, produce and test. We have chosen to invest almost exclusively in the innovation and quality of our boards, which explains our direct sales system: we control all our costs and you benefit from very competitive prices.

Largest manufacturer of wing foil boards in Europe.

In order to produce extraordinary boards, we have set up our own manufacturing plant in Portugal. We are proud to be the biggest manufacturer in Europe and to offer our boards at attractive prices thanks to our direct sales model.

With its compact shape, the Glide SW will be your board of choice for going winging in the waves. With its reduced length at equal volume compared to other boards like the Glide V2, the Glide SW will be a machine to carve and surf, even in the hollowest waves.

The Glide SW is also a very accessible board, its generous width will offer you the necessary stability whether on your knees, in the take-off phases and even in light winds. As for freestyle, the Glide SW does it too! Indeed, its compact shape allows it to be very reactive and allows you to make powerful jump calls, while facilitating pumping. With its maneuverability, limitless rotations are yours!

You are going to tell us: but then, can this board do everything? Well, yeah ! The Glide SW is our most versatile board, which you can use as a single board. However, if you want a specialized board for Race we recommend the Glide V2, while if you are looking for a board specially designed for Freestyle, opt for the Trix instead.

In short, the Glide SW is intended for intermediate to expert level riders who want a high-performance, versatile board that allows easy take-off and with which you can go in the waves as well as in the air.

The Glide SW is available from 70L in 4'7 to 115L in 5'4: yes, these are really nice volumes for these lengths! Depending on your size and your level, you can choose the Glide SW that will accompany you in your best wing sessions. In general, to choose the liter of your board, keep in mind that the more you have a good level, the more you will be able to move towards a board with a liter lower than your weight, while if you are not yet completely made comfortable, it is preferable that you keep a reserve of buoyancy.

For the Glide SW, we recommend confident beginners to choose a board 20L more than its weight, in order to have an accessible and compact board. With a confirmed level, the weight-volume is ideal, even in the light. For experts, it is possible to go down to -15L in relation to its weight in order to no longer have limits.

For the shape of our Glide SW, we took all the best from the Glide V2 and the Comet SW to obtain a board that is both slippery and maneuverable.

The high-performance take-off of the Glide has made its reputation, while the Comet SW has been acclaimed for its compact and voluminous shape, offering both maneuverability and accessibility. This is why our new Glide SW retains the shape of the Glide V2, adapting it to the measurements of the Comet SW.

The purpose of this combination is to optimize glide in a short board.

For even more maneuverability, the Glide SW has a concave deck dug to bring the rider closer to the foil. It also lowers the rider's center of gravity, for better stability and board control.

Even with its compact and voluminous shape, take-offs are easy and smooth thanks to the triple concave hull straight from the shape of the Glide V2. This hull makes it possible to evacuate the water more quickly and therefore to offer a fast and pure glide.

Combined with its beveled rails and its light rocker, the hull of the Glide SW promises a natural rebound effect that absorbs impacts, even at high speed or when landing a jump, for ever more forgiveness and soft landings. .

We were able to achieve this ideal shape for the Glide SW thanks to our high quality full carbon construction. The magic happens in our own factory in Portugal, thanks to our vacuum infusion carbon technology.

Concerned about the protection of the environment, we select our raw materials with care. We take into account the proximity and sourcing of our suppliers, while favoring state-of-the-art quality.

Our Glide SW is made with our vacuum infusion technique in our factory in Portugal, in Peniche, the center of surf culture in Europe. At Takoon, we have constantly questioned our production methods to produce ever more durable boards, respecting our environment as much as possible. We are proud to contribute to the local economy and to make long-term commitments to make our industry more eco-responsible.

At Takoon, all our suppliers are European and are part of the world leaders in composite materials. Only our Double Rail US Box case is an exception: we have indeed selected products from the American brand Futures, Made In California, renowned for their solidity and robustness.

No more decompression valves, no more infiltrations: our Glide SW is built around a foam block of our own Takoon design. We developed this hydrophobic foam in order to obtain unequaled mechanical properties and a compression rate that we could not find elsewhere on the market. The heart of our boards is then made of this resistant, flexible foam that does not drink water: in short, a durable and repairable board!

In order to obtain an optimal resin/fiber ratio and to provide our boards with flawless solidity and responsiveness, our Glide SW is completely covered in full carbon produced by vacuum infusion. At Takoon, we have decided to use this infusion technique, which is perfectly suited for high-end products, for the sake of performance and quality.

Used by the aerospace, aeronautical and even high-tech automotive industries, vacuum carbon infusion is the future of the evolution of our industry. In summary, this technique consists of bagging the piece, bread with foam and fibers, then evacuating the air from this bag in order to create a vacuum and apply strong pressure to the board to ensure perfect bonding of the layers. Then tubes feed the resin into the bag, which is sucked through the carbon fiber and infused. Any excess resin is immediately sucked up by the vacuum pump and the process can then be stopped.

The result ? A reduction in excess resin of approximately 60% compared to hand lamination. In the process there is no waste of resin, a completely predictable amount is used for each board. There are no brushes, no rollers, no splatters. Compared to the familiar mess of open layer construction, vacuum resin infusion is like a day at the beach.

This vacuum infusion technique has many advantages over open lamination techniques: we obtain a better fibre/resin ratio, the quantity of resin used is reduced thanks to the fabric pre-compacted under vacuum, the operator is less exposed to harmful emissions and benefits from a cleaner working environment and of course the combination results in stronger and lighter boards.

Indeed, who says optimal fiber / resin ratio, says that there is no superfluity, so you have a lighter board compared to boards of more traditional constructions, especially since at Takoon, we also have made other optimizations on the weight of our boards through the choice of materials and accessories.

This full carbon construction in vacuum infusion thus makes it possible to propel the performance of the Glide SW. Indeed, thanks to its weight gain and rigidity, you get a lively, reactive board that responds precisely to your support. It is also a durable construction that will withstand the vagaries of board life and will be perfectly repairable. With good maintenance, you will keep it (a very) long time!
