Wingfoil Session in Majanicho: the wild magic of Fuerteventura

If you're looking for a spot that's powerful, secluded, and beautiful, then Majanicho , on Fuerteventura's north coast, is the place for you. This volcanic bay, fringed by black rocks and swept by the trade winds, offers an exceptional playground for wingfoiling... provided you're prepared to ride "committed."

A launch that is worth it

Majanicho isn't an easy spot to get to. You have to drive a few kilometers of dirt track, between lava fields and cacti, to reach this half-moon-shaped bay. There's no sandy beach here: you enter the water between the pebbles, often at low tide. Suffice it to say, you need to be careful with your preparation and timing.

But once in the water, the effort is well worth it.

Perfect conditions for wingfoiling

The thermal wind blows in almost every day in summer, moving side-on or side-off depending on the tide and swell. It often reaches between 15 and 25 knots in the afternoon, with a fairly flat water in the bay and nice swell lines outside.

“It’s a perfect spot for long turns, frontside surfing and downwinds between sections.”

You can ride the leeward edges of the reef, play with the swell's contours, or work on your surf foil in the foam at the edge of the reef. For the more technical, Majanicho also offers beautiful ramps to try airs or challenging maneuvers.

A unique… but demanding playground

Majanicho doesn't forgive mistakes. The foil doesn't have much room for error on the rocks at low tide. The wings must be firmly planted on land, the launches carefully chosen, and you must remain vigilant with the currents that quickly eject you out to sea.

“Here, we learn to read the ocean. It’s raw, wild, but so alive.”

This is also what makes the session magical: this feeling of being alone in the world, in a lunar setting, with only the sound of the wind, the flapping of the wing, and the shouts of the riders happy to slide.

After the session: surfing, tapas and sunset atmosphere

After the session, head to Lajares for a cold beer or a delicious local dish. The atmosphere is relaxed, with a community of riders from all over the world who come here for the same reason: to experience the thrill of riding, far from the crowded spots.

Why ride Majanicho?

  • For the intensity of the wind and the regularity of the conditions

  • For the completely exotic volcanic scenery

  • For pure gliding, between surfing and winging

  • For the authentic experience, away from the crowds

Majanicho isn't a beginner's spot, but it's a place where you can progress quickly, where every session counts, and where memories last. If you're passing through Fuerteventura, don't hesitate to take your Takoon quiver and test yourself against this Canarian gem.

To ride with respect, humility… and stoke.
