Ambassador Portrait – Régis, between composite, sliding… and churros
In this new ambassador profile, we introduce you to Régis, a passionate rider based in Morbihan, who combines technical expertise, humor, and gliding with a real personal touch. An experienced rider, a former Takoon ambassador since his kite days, he returned to the brand with enthusiasm... and a solid background in wingfoiling.
A return to the roots
Régis, 51, works in technical support for ocean racing, more specifically in the field of composite materials. A passionate environment, at the heart of performance sailing. He discovered foiling a little over four years ago, influenced by his kitesurfing buddies who had already made the leap into this new dimension.
“I was already a Takoon kite ambassador from 2007 to 2013. Returning to a more family-oriented, closer brand really spoke to me.”
His Takoon setup: versatile and sharp
Régis relies on a well-thought-out and ultra-coherent quiver:
-
Boards : Prosurf 4'10 & Ultra Glide 6'0
-
Foils : Flare 650 and 850, on carbon mast
-
Wings : V3Pro in 3.5m and 4.5m
“At 68 kg, this setup allows me to cover all the conditions around my favorite program: freeride, freefly and surf.”
A passion for wing and surfing
As soon as the wind blows, Régis takes out his wing. On calm days? He switches to surf foil.
"What I love is improving the fluidity of my turns. I'm not really into tricks; my joints quickly remind me of the rules."
He rides most often around Quiberon, its beaches, its waves, and its changing atmospheres.
Falls, progress and self-deprecation
Régis isn't one to take himself too seriously. He shares his best sessions... and his worst falls.
"I remember a poorly negotiated frontside edge, the wing poorly managed, a big slope, a fall, and a pierced leading edge. I ended up in the foam, foil in hand..."
But it was also these learning sessions, the attempts at jibes and tacks that left the strongest memories.
His advice to beginners?
“The right equipment, a clear spot, a good wind… and we’re off!”
Inspired by local riders
No world star on his inspiration board, but a great admiration for the very good local surfoilers, which he finds particularly aesthetic.
“This discipline is magnificent to watch.”
On the social media side, he of course follows the accounts @takoon.world and @takoon.riders.wingfoil.and.co .
A mark of the heart
Takoon, for him, is a story that lasts:
"I've followed the Takoon adventure since its beginnings in kitesurfing. Today, it's a brand with high-performance products, at reasonable prices, and a real connection with its riders."
And when he's not in the water?
This is where it gets… unexpected. Régis is an opera singer and a snail breeder. Yes, really.
“And I also cultivate my own sense of humor… very personal. I’m the only one who finds it funny.”
After a good session, he doesn't say no to...
12 churros. Not one less.
To conclude ?
“Protect yourself from the sun. Especially in Brittany.”
